    Default HC and MC upgrade

Just a quick question; I noticed my hand controller and motor software was out of date (4.16, 6.08) for my CGEM. Do I have to upload the upgrades in between or can I skip to the latest software.

First ask yourself why you want to upgrade. If the mount is performing to your expectations, then don't worry about it. If there is a feature in the new software that you just cant do without, then you should be able to just download the latest software and install it. You will need to refer to your manual as to how to do that on your particular mount.

Now where did I put that clear sky button!

    Nice Jim, great advice.

I'll add Mike Swanson's website to this as a reference, since I found it quite helpful when I upgraded my 6SE a week ago.

Hi John, that's right, no need to put each update on in succession. You can go straight to the most up-to-date file. The newest update will contain all the previous updates as well. I jumped from HC 4.13 to HC 4.20 on my 6SE, no issues. There will be some settings you'll have to redo after the update. I had to calibrate goto, set my anti-backlash, reset location, time...etc.

As noted by Tom upgrading to the newest version will include all the revisions made in all the earlier versions... so its a one step process...

IF I used a Gem mount I honestly would have upgraded up to version 4.18 as soon as it became available as it contained the very useful All Star Alignment..

As it is I run a 8i (earlier model of the 8 Se) as well as a CPC1100 (fork mounted scopes) and I run version 4.13 in both of them... The later versions did not contain any thing that I felt I Needed or even Wanted...

Upgraded to the latest and greatest, two star alignment is now available, that is when all these clouds disappear.
