Question Celestron Nexstar 8i SE w/SkyAlign and XLT Coatings?

Hello,

Again, Can anyone comment on this scope? I mean what is the optical quality of the scope, ease of use, need of frequent collimation an on?

Thank you.

HI,
the 8" SCT is a great telescope do-all performer

The optical system is the same no matter which model your purchase. I make sure to check the collimation maybe twice a year, but they hold extremely well, so if i have to any anything its maybe a small tweak on one screw!

I have read nothing but good reviews for this scope. It seems to be recommended not only for apeture, but for its grab and go capability as well.
What you may want to do is type the model into your search engine and follow it up with the word ' reviews'. This should bring up a listing of reviews for the scope.
Good Luck in your decision,
Post back with the results.
Clear skies

The problem with the reviews especially posted on the web site of telescope sellers is the fact they do not inspire trust. I happened to buy a scope also guided by opinions and reviews provided by the sites of the scope sellers. The site of truly independent reviews is not known to me. This is why I applied to forum. However, thank you for this much.
I am interested in a few more questions. Does the scope well support photographic accessories?
Also, I am new to such a forum. I am still interested if it is possible to raise discussion on the scopes in comparative perspective without being suspected in playing in favor of one of the competitors. Can we discuss Meade scopes such as Meade SC-8 AT LXD75 8" go-to equatorial, with UHTC optics in comparison with this one of Celestron?

I just got a NexStar 8i SE. It's my first scope and it's been a bit of a learning curve. I had trouble with dew until I got an Astrozap heated dew shield. It's a snap to set up. Attach the spreader to the tripod, make sure it's level, and set the OTA over the 3 screws and tighten the screws. The one problem I've had, and this has been reported by several people, is that the power cable does not make a tight connection. As a result of the loose connection, the power gets interrupted as the telescope is slewed from side to side. This is not good for the scope and is incredibly annoying after you've spent the time to align the scope and are now trying to use it to observe. I tried attaching a cable clip near the connection and looping the cable around it but I have found that a piece of duct tape works better.

i just joined the local astronomy club and had my first observing session with them a week ago. The go-to worked great, the scope tracked beautifully and everyone there was very impressed with the optics. I was very pleased with the views I got with my scope after comparing them to what I saw in a 17 inch dob.

I'd recommend the scope without reservation.
