    Default StarSense camera.

    Hello,
Is it worth the StarSense camera for the Nexstar SE mount?
    Thank you
    Pluton.

Personally I feel it is a expensive addon that is not really required.
Even if you do not know the skies the SE mount has the SkyAlign feature which will have your mount ready to go in minutes.

    Pros:
It works well and reasonably fast.
You can auto align at dusk before it's dark enough and there are stars visible to do a manual visual alignment.

    Cons:
It is an expensive add on.
If it's cloudy out with only sucker holes in the clouds to find stars, it probably won't auto align.
There is no need for it as 1, 2 and 3 star alignments can be done manually.

I bought one specifically for outreach events. It allows me to get setup and running before most of the other people there with GoTo scopes can. Then at dusk, when people ask what are we looking at, I no longer have to say I'm waiting for it to get dark so I can align my mount.
Then when someone looking through the scope grab's and moves it, or kicks the tripod, it's no big deal to have the mount auto align itself.

One other thing to consider is the SSA HC, its a little different to the standard one, more lines on the display which I find harder to see, and maybe not on an SE but on Evolution there are some things you cannot change like you can on the original HC. The tour mode with Starsense is a car crash.

So yes it can make life a bit easier but in all honesty its a luxury and I wish I had spent the money on a good EP or maybe beer.
