DSI III pro (temp 11C) guided with a DSI II Pro. I honestly forget what subs I used here. I know I did longer green exposures. 2 minutes if I recall correctly. My goal was to make sure I didn't wash out the center.

This is just RGB, I for the life of me can't figure out how to stack LRGB with registax and have it save the aligned L frame. It saves the RGB frames in separate FITS files just fine, it just doesn't save the L frame. If anyone knows how please let me know. I think I may have stacked in a bad frame. Stars are a tiny bit shifted. Ohh well I'll work on it. Comments are of course always welcome and tips and advice appreciated.

    Not too bad at all.

Why don't you use Deep Sky Stacker instead. Registax is really a planetary suite. I gather you then construct your final image in Photoshop or something?
Try this link for LRGB construction in Photoshop.

Can you provide also scope type, exposure times, guiding etc for us detail starved imaging types!

It looks great to me man. There may be some tiny imperfections, but not something I would ever notice. Keep em coming, I love this stuff.

I actually use PS for my LRGB work. It's really very easy to get the channels in and add the Luminance as a layer. I watched another tutorial (video) that proved to be very useful. I've also been working with PS for years, so it's not hard to work with.

Scope was a 1000 mm f/4.9 8 inch newt (Orion) on an EQ6. I really need to keep track of the subs I take a bit closer, this one was one of those quick before the moon comes out deals.

I will try Deep Sky Stacker without a doubt. Chances are I'll also reprocess this image once I get the L frame in. I'll post my results.

    Thanks

I suspect I should be posting these in another sub forum. This CCD section appears to be more of a technical section rather then a share your image. I might be wrong ?

In any event I reworked my original stacking with DSS and added in the Luminance channel.

What do you guys think? Better?

And of course click here for the Hi-res version

Very nicely done! DSS and addition of the L channel made a positive difference. And this is a fine place for posting images, either for sharing or critique...

    Thanks everyone!

Now if only I could get some cloud free nights to try and get some other targets. I keep trying to get the horse-head nebula only to run out of imaging time before a tree gets in the way. Last time my main battery died (forgot to charge it). This weekend it was cloud cover that rolled in. LRGB imaging sure is a lot of work, but worth it.
