Cant see why that wouldnt work as good as what i have experienced with mine.

Regarding the problems you've had with yours Henk, I bought mine on the back of recommendations from a few others who are using them. I would not have gone for this if it had not been recommened by others using it for the same purpose (mainly from a temprature perspective). I think you have just got a lemon. I'd put money on it if you got it replaced like for like you would not see the same issues. But, i can understand that it does dent your confidence.

Thanks Aidan. The one I got appears to be sold under other brands as well and after browsing the reviews of several of them I noticed that they either work great or go bad either right away or after a short time of use (about 20% or so). In those cases the symptoms are similar to mine. I also read a lot of negative comments about Beelink's support (which is virtually non existent).

Frankly for small low power devices I have more confidence in ARM and Linux than Intel and Microsoft. Platforms like the Pi and Beaglebone are rock solid, efficient and cheap while there is a large user base and software is easily accessible and rebuildable. So I think I will stick with my Pi for now. The model that I use is a 2B, it works well for autoguiding. I will try building Ekos on it when I need it, once I get a non-DSLR camera (or two).

I also ordered a micro USB to ethernet dongle. This should let me connect my droid to the Pi using VNC over ethernet instead of Wifi. It should eliminate the lag time that you complained about with your Stellarmate when running most components remotely instead of locally.

What have you guys experienced with regard to the operating temperature of these fanless PCs? Wondering if they have issues running in cold (-20C) or warm (30C) temperatures.

Where i am in the UK, i rarely dip below -4 and peak above +25 Typical is about +20 in the summer evenings. Running at about +8 a the moment on warm night. Only time will tell for me... but, as i bought mine on recommendations, i do know they will work fine at -8/-10 and well into the high 20's & 30's. The guys who i know are using these are in Greece and temps soar there in the summer.

FWIW I returned my Beelink BT3 unit and got a full refund. Before then I tried fixing it with their help but the support was often incomplete so it did not help much but at least we tried.
