Default Which camera do you recommend, Deep Space Video or Imaging Camera

I've been borrowing my cousin's Canon DSLR, and now she needs it back. So I am now in the market for a CCD imager. I am currently stuck between two choices, the Orion Deep Space Video Camera, and the Deep Space Imaging Camera.

(link to video camera, link to imaging camera)

Both have some advantages/disadvantages, but more or less, their specs are similar. Does anyone here recommend or disapprove of one or both of these cameras, or have any suggestions to other types?

To make a recommendation, one needs to know what your primary interest is, what types of imaging you plan to use it for, DSO or Planets? Also what type of telescope and mount you use all plays an important part of deciding hwat you should use.

Neither of these cameras is going to work the same as a DSLR as these cameras use much smaller imaging sensors as compared to a Canon DSLR which is another factor you need to consider. Personally, I would stick to using a Canon DSLR if that is what you know and have been using...

I plan to use this for DSOs on both Altaz and EQ mounts.

I would like to keep the camera, but like I said, my cousin needs it back.

What is the telescope you will be using this camera with?

    I use a 4.5" reflector on a GoTo alt-az, and a 5.1" reflector on a motorized EQ mount

If I were limited to choosing only one of these two cameras you list in your first post in this thread, I would choose the second, the imaging camera as it has a 16 bit digitizer as compared to an 8 bit digitizer in the first camera, and that for DSO imaging, one does not want a video camera.

However, there is a third option which is the choice I would make, and that is a Canon EOS T3 presently being sold on AMazon.com for under $350...
