    Default Saturn on 28th March...

Heck..! I gave up on this forum a few months back..... it seems I just couldn't log in everytime I tried no matter what, and in the end I stopped trying to untill today, whilst loking for a better "Saturn moons positions" ephemeris I came across a link to here and BINGO!!!

But regardless, it's good to be able to log in as well (the darn site just wouldn't open before, or shut down with an internet error message within a minute of opening if it did.....)

So here's one of my latest images of Saturn, taken 28th March 2011 around 2am local date & time.....fairly good seeing but below what I'd rate as "very good" and "excellent."

The moon Dione is seen in the image nearing Saturn's disk and the head and trailling columns of the Great Storm are well-placed on that night.

Beautiful shot K-man, love that storm detail! Is this a Reggie V or VI job?

Thank you Brian and Carol - this is the Reggie 5 processing.....I'll put up a couple of comparisons later on now that it seems that I can get onto this forum again (I'm using a new link to it - makes me wonder whether there was something wrong at my end all that time!?!)

I did post a "first comparisons" set of images on CN last night after downloading the new version, but I'd like to familiarise myself a bit more with the quite radically different V6 so that I can feel as if the comparisons are on a level footing.....

Thank you DM, Valentin and Jeff.....this is with a modified C11 on an NEQ6pro mount at around f28 using a Flea3 mono camera and electric filter wheel.....I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of an Orion Optics (UK) VX16 which is a 16" f4 newtonian reflector with "ulragrade" optical finish which is guaranteed to be 1/10pv or better as measured by the most exacting methods.....this will give me approx 2.1X the light-gathering power of my trusty C11 with far better optical qualities and the capability of grabbing many more frames than the C11 during a "standard" rgb imaging sequence with the Flea3 camera..!

I'm running into serious stitching issues in R6 while processing Y800 runs from my DBK21. RGB24 seems to be better, off-and-on, but not without issues. When first starting up I had to ask how to Debayer the avi since the old tab is gone...didn't think to check the prefilter box, of all places! Still, I can see promise in the new version...but it will take some time to adjust. My impression at this point is that very little thought was given to one-shot color imagers during the beta testing. Hopefully I'll be able to whip these issues and get full value from R6. I'll keep the forum posted.

Where is the prefilter box? I have been looking for it since I recently moded my neximage firmware to shoot in RAW format. Because of this the files need to be "debayed" now. Not really sure what debayered means, all I know is that it adds the color back in.
