    Default B&L 80mm Mak

Some months back when this scope came up for auction I couldn't resist. At first I couldn't figure it out from the listing because it wasn't specific about the optical system. Once I realized it was a Mak, and 80mm, I jumped on it. It has a very nice fitted case with two eyepieces (curiously identical 25mm) a diagonal, camera adapter and manual. I'm certain that it wasn't made by Bausch & Lomb with a probable origin in Japan or China. The scope takes 1.25" eyepieces. It has a rock solid feel. I had a rather quick peek out of it and was initially impressed. It will get a worthy first light soon, this time over-mounted on a Twilight I. Does anyone know anything about this scope? It seems to be a somewhat rare bird.

What a neat looking scope. Be sure to give us a report after you get to test drive it a bit.

Hi Rogan. Nice, very nice. This is one fine Mak, and you should enjoy using this instrument very much. Thanks for your report Rogan, and I too am looking forward to your first light report after you get it out under the skies.

Thanks all. I'm thinking this might be a very nice lunar scope.

Here's the whole package (owner's manual not shown). For $109 shipped there was no way that I could resist.

Btw, I have a wonderful 9-10mm Japanese eyepiece made with research grade lenses that should be amazing with this scope for the moon. I used it with an ST80 (not exactly a lunar scope) and the image was unbelievably crisp.
