Default Where to buy a new telescope

I live between Toronto and Montreal, the store that has treated me the best as well as the best prices is.......LA MAISON DE LA ASTRONOMIE.
They have a well stocked store and are very friendly.
    This has beem my experience.
I have no other reason then to help other astronomers get great deals and service.

I bought my SW Dob from astromechanics, i even got free shipping from Ontario to Sask.

Anyone looking for the Hyperion 8-24 zoom, i found a good deal at kwtelescope, $215.00 and $119 for the regular Hyperion eyepieces. It's in USA dollars though but that is the same price as places like telescopes.com have them for and you don't have to worry about border crap.

Asromechanics is where I purchased my telescope - although I am brand spankin new - I am (so far) sticking to them in barrie (and its a bit of a drive to get there for me as well, 4 hours south from home) (yes, I enjoy the drive)

Lately, KW has been cheaper due to the relatively high CAD dollar.
I ordered my HEQ5 PRO from them and am very satisfied with the service provided by Brian at KWTelescopes. In the end, I paid a little more for the mount than if I had bought an Orion Sirius. The SkyWatcher mounts are not available here in the States, but I believe the SW mounts are better than the Orion. Plus, there is the factor that I don't have to deal with an invisible mount at night. Another plus, I paid about US$72 instead of $159 for the GPS.
They say that they assemble and test each mount before shipping to the US and I know for a fact that they did. When I set it up the Polar scope was dead on!

It's interesting that they don't list Skywatcher, which has corporate offices here in B.C.

I agree. I have bought from Brian @ KWTelescopes as well. Not much choice over here in Ireland. Stuff is in transit as I speak right now.

Has anyone bought anything from canadiantelescopes.com/??? I see AstroMechanics being recommended here.
As for Khan, they didn't even want to talk to me when I mentioned I was interested in an entry level scope -whoever was at their end couldn't be bothered to answer any question when I asked. he simply "look at our website and order what you want" was what he said. I called a 2nd time another day & got put on hold indefinitely when I again mentioned entry level scope. I guess business is really booming if they can't be bothered with a beginner.....

AbbN, earlier in this thread I mentioned that I hadn't had problems with any of the dealers.. I lied because I didn't want to bring up one isolated incident. I called Khan to ask about their 12" LB's back when I was scopeless, I told them that I was a 3 hour one way drive from the store. He told me that he was busy and that I should come down and have a look for myself.
