    Hospital heliports are definitely included. Unlicensed aerodromes appear not to be: two in my area are not included. Surprisingly, they left out a large air force base (Greenwood). I don't know if that is intentional, if it is an omission in error, or if they figure that the air force can shoot back.

    In past week I had read article that a very young kid had picked up parent's green laser pointer and looked into it. The article showed an image of the damage to his eye, permanent. If you have kids around be sure you lock them up and keep guard of them.

    The form that Transport Canada has developed to "obtain permission" to use Green Laser Pointers is ridiculous. It appears to be designed to be so complex that no one will apply for permission. They could have made it so much easier by removing the technical calculations and having a box that said provide a link to the manufacturer or vendor website for the glp you own, so TC can determine of it is authorized.

    I have sent the form to 2 scientists so far and no one can figure it. Our outreach program is about 37K from any airport or helipad so I am not too worried but still - the form is impossible!

    I understand the dangers near airports and while plans are ascending and descending. Earlier on this thread it was mentioned that GLPs can cause significant glare up to 3km. Isn't that less than 10,000 feet? It still only reaches about 1/3 of the way to commercial flights.

    The real problem is that it is very difficult to determine distances in the night sky, so while you may think a plane is more than 10,000 ft, it could be a lot closer. Safe to use the rule, if it moves or blinks, don't point at it. Use a circular motion around the object if you still feel a need to point it out, for example the ISS, which usually orbits at around 400km high.
