Default Nova East star party, July28-30 2017

Normally, Nova East is in August around the new moon. However due to a lot of people being away at the August new moon to view the solar eclipse, they are holding it in July, on the 28th-30th. The Moon will be approaching first quarter, so the focus will likely be lunar and planetary observing, with DSO observing reserved for the all-night crowd.

    NOVA EAST

I will be on the program, doing a presentation on observing with telescopes for beginners on Saturday afternoon.

Well, the weather didn't cooperate. Only a couple of hours of peering through thin fog at a few stars while moonlight and twilight lit things up. But it was a good social event. Good to see you as always, David/Shelldrake!

I did a presentation on using telescopes for beginners, and I was happy with how it went. I got some positive feedback afterwards from both beginners and experienced members. It is always good for the self-confidence to do a successful presentation.

There were a lot of other interesting presentations, too.

I know there are several Nova Scotia members. I would really encourage you all to come to Nova East next year. It is a great way to meet some really excellent people, find mentors, share what you know, look through some large telescopes, and learn a lot.
