Default mirror recoating service in Canada ?

Hi. I have a very old 6 inch f/8 Newtonian that I wish to rehabilitate. The mirror was ground by the first director of the Manitoba Museum planetarium, B. F. Shinn, and was supposed to be very good. It was last aluminized back about 1970 ( ancient days). Is there any service that anyone would recommend in Canada or elsewhere ?
Or, are mirrors today of sufficient quality that a new mirror may be a more reasonable way to go?
    Thanks.
    Rick

Hi, I had a secondary mirror issues with my EDGE1100HD, it had a small scratch. I got Normand Fullum in Quebec to recoat it for me. Aluminization Of Mirrors - Optiques Fullum
The mirror came back perfect, and very reasonably priced. I would certainly use him again!!

I'd second tridude's recommendation. Went to Norman's shop last year when I was in Montreal doing the family thing. If I still had my dob, that would be the place to have the mirror recoated. He also sells new mirrors and secondaries, as well as complete scopes. And yes, they do speak very good English...

hi guys, I have a early 70's 8" F7 Cave which I want to fully restore. I still get some decent views, but the primary mirror has some bad spots on it where the coating is very "thin", It needs a re-coat. I looked at Normands site, and the price for coating is decent. I wanted to have the mirror tested as well, and if its not very good, maybe have it refigured to be the best it can be. The price of refiguring an 8" is a bit steep for me, but i'll prolly send it out to him non the less for recoat and test... thanks for the info here.
