About all that's left around Ontario is KW Telescope, New Eyes Old Skies, and Khan Scope Centre. Again, hate to say it, but the high cost of living drives everything up. Vancouver Telescope Centre said it very well in their statement.
Quite sad, really. But hey, there's always Astrobuysell.com ...

Bought a new Sky Watcher ED80 + EQ3 Synscan + Binoviewer from them in January. Made arrangements for return & upgrade to different set-up with them including $230 further deposit.

Don't think I'll be seeing the benefit or the cash now. Leaves me a little less than sympathetic.

Wow, so sorry to hear that... Take the money and run, eh? Funny, they didn't put that on their statement! Is there something you can do...?

If they are filing for bankruptcy you can put your name on a creditor list. I do not know if or how much you would be able to get back in a situation like that but possibly something to look into.
The Better Business Bureau in Vancouver should be able to give you some information on what you can do.

No answer to text or email messages so far. Don't know if they're in receivership or what exactly the score is.

Did a 'drive-by' on Thursday night & the doors weren't padlocked.

I'm sure that I'm not #1 on their priority list & I'd be so far back on their list of creditors, it wouldn't otherwise be worth pursuing. Thanks for your concern, though.

Hate to be so blunt, but that blows. I heard that happened with Canadian telescopes, and when I ordered the focuser for my dob from KW a few years back, they were having "issues" and I didn't hear a thing for about two months, but it finally showed up. They seem fine now.
If there was something I could do for you, I would. Nobody needs that...

    Best of luck,

The Bible tells us God created the Universe; Science tells us how He did it; And through my telescopes I marvel at His handiwork

Thanks Mark. It would have been nice if their notice included instructions to those with outstanding orders, etc.

Even, "We're sorry, but you're hooped !". Right now, it's 'up in the air' & they're just not responding to messages.

Admittedly, it's only been 2 days + a 'closed for emergency' message on Thursday but some communication would be nice.

We'll see how that side of it all pans out in the first few days of next week ! Hope still springs eternal !

Pitter's post in the thread 'Canadian Telescopes' leaves a little ambiguity regarding Amazon & Canadian telescopes:

    Default Re: Canadian Telescopes

I sent a message to Canadian Telescopes asking if they are going to be back as an online retailer or remain with Amazon.
    Here is the reply:

    Hi Mark,
Thank you for your concern and inquiry. I am not sure that CT will be back as an online store in future or at least in that scale.

    Regards

    Lisa Harriot

    Canadian Telescopes Sales
    Canadian Telescopes Inc.

Their website no longer goes to Amazon or anything else, just an under construction webpage: https://www.canadiantelescopes.com/
Too bad. I did a lot of business with them, even though there are suppliers a lot closer to me.
