If you read to the end of the thread, it appears that they have not folded, but had their website hacked, and have had to relocate their business both physically and on the web. There also is a link to a Facebook message from the owner, Babak Sedehi, explaining everything.

Hopefully things will get straightened out and CT will reopen another store. It is getting harder to find good Canadian telescope retailers as many of them haveclosed shop in the last couple of years.

Refractors kick arse precisely because they don't hide behind excuses. That is, they have no obstructions to hide behind.

Had a little trouble with an order with CT. Took months to get a couple of Badder filters....but they finally shipped them a couple weeks ago.
A great Canadian telescope store is Allstartelescopes. The service is beyond great, and they have a lot of what is on their website in stock. I recently purchased a Celestron advanced VX mount from them, and they even set it up and tested it before shipping. I also purchased a Skywatcher Star Advedturer mount from them.

The site and company are fine again. I have an order on the way as we speak and have done several orders over the past month.

Thank goodness for the good news that he's still in business! They are the only Canadian suppliers for a number of lines that otherwise have to be imported . . . With big border delays, and currency exchange costs added too.

I, for one, will never order from Canadian Telescopes again. Shouldn't take 93 days to get an eyepiece. And when I called customer service and politely asked them when I could expect it.... I guess customer service is just when you feel like it

KW Telescopes is a good place. I've been there, great staff and good prices, not to mention some very good deals on used.

What would be really nice is if Agena Astro could make their way up here. Better selection and prices. For a few extra $$$ (I'm talking under $10), you can get a GSO two speed focuser with the compression ring for eyepieces, etc from Agena, compared to a single speed, 1 eyepiece screw, Synta-style replacement. That's with the conversion rate, taxes, duty, etc.

Well, I hope Canadian Telescopes gets back on their feet. Other people have obviously had good experiences with them. Gabby is right, too, very few shops left up here. I blame people being too busy looking down at their phones instead of up!

    All the best,

    Mark

I just received an eyepiece that I ordered from them - all seems ok but they did not have phones at that time. That was a couple of weeks ago so I suspect all is well now.

    Fat Kitty,

Agena has a store on eBay.ca, although I don't think they have anything like the breadth of stock that they have in their online US store. I suppose if more people use their eBay store they'll expand there.
