    I think the boys at Cabelas were thinking of a rifle scope. You cannot export a rifle scope out of the US without a export permit. It's a pain for us Canadian hunters as optics are as cheap as dirt down there. Telescopes should be no issue

    Default Is crossing the Canadian border with optics cause for concern?

    A few years back I passed through Chicago O'Hare and the scanner rejected my hand luggage several times. On doing a hand inspection, the TSA guy spotted a blue box in the bottom of the bag and realised it contained one of those "skyscraper in a glass cube" ornaments. He reckoned they often send the scanner doolally.

    I wonder if scope optics would do the same thing. Probably...........

    Unless you're carrying a gun with it it shouldn't be a problem.
