  1. Starting a New Project.

I recently embarked upon a new adventure in Astronomy. Often a person new to astronomy buys a 4SE with astrophotography as one objective. Given the adverts of Celestron, one can not fault the newcomer for thinking the 4SE is a suitable telescope and mount for astrophotography.

Excluding the new SkyWatcher Star Discovery (aka Orion Star Seeker) AZ goto mounts , the entry level AZ goto mounts typically have an unstable tripod. These mounts use either tubular steel or aluminum legs that have a center brace typically used as an accessory or eyepiece tray that is designed to prevent the legs from spreading past a predetermined point. 3. Aspects of Alt-Azimuth Mount Astrophotography

Is an azimuth mount image made from stacking many short exposures equal to an image made from one long German equatorial mount exposure?

Take for example two images made under identical conditions using identical equipment except one image is made on a GEM and the other image is made on an AZ mount. Keep in mind:
    1. as exposure time increases, the strength of the signal increases directly with an increase in time while noise increases as the square root of time.

First time bloger; good intentions; unknown dedication.

This Blog is intended to document my experiences with video astronomy starting as rank beginner and progressing to where ever I end up going. Last year I completed my previous project to document the attributes of DSLR astrophotography using entry level goto alt-azimuth mounts then publish a book on my findings. Now I am starting a new astronomy project; video astronomy.

I've read with curiosity about video ...
