  1. star trails and correct exposure for cropped sensor

    Well after spending time on my bum doing little to nothing , ive finally got round to reading some of my book marks on astrophotography as well as my photography course

    we all know about the 500 rule for working out exposure times

    500 divided by the focal length of the lens.

    Well reading up found some rather interesting issues, which may explain why i get trails, or the odd spike were its starting to trail.

  2. basic Astro Photography

    we've all seen these amazing photos of galaxies, nebula's and star clusters and a lot of the best images i have seen have been on this forum, like the next person along i want to do this and take my own photos so i can see it for myself.
    So you look at the posts and images and suddenly the realisation dawns the scope you just bought might not be suitable might not be big enough, and all the images your looking at have more time dedicated to them than you can actually give as well get due ...

    Some days this the sky is super clear, i just wish i had been out at my dark sky location its would have been incredible

    Also once i had this and Mirach dialled in i can find our nearest neighbour quickly and easily.

  5. Refractors - small to largish

    There is no real answer to which is best from Refractor, reflector (dobs inc) , Mak-Cas, astrography and so on.

    Ive seen the usual question asked is "what will i see with what size scope" i know i asked the same thing, and everyone say aperture is king - well maybe now having got three scopes of varying sizes can answer the what can you see question for my 3
