How to Align a Finderscope for New Astronomers

Hi guys, I just wanted to share this video I made about how to align a finderscope. I hope it helps new astronomers get setup on their first night out in the field.



The finderscope in the video is an adjustable Orion finderscope. Yours may be different but the same principle applies. Locate a still target that is at least a half a mile away or 800 meters or more. Center it in the telescope using your highest powered eyepiece. Then center the object in the finderscope using the adjustable knobs. Repeat using a higher powered eyepiece. Enjoy.
