Default UK - Lidl selling binoculars cheap again

    Dear All,

The retail chain 'Lidl' are selling cheap binoculars in the UK again. These are zoomable BAK7 but don't let that put you off...

    LIDL

OK, I know there's strong feeling against zooms here and rightly so but for £15 for a pair, I guess you can't go toooo far wrong

Ooh. Might pick a pair of these up, to go with my quality lidl scope

I'm sure they won't be the ultimate in image quality or anything, but for £15 a pair of 60mm lenses will be a massive improvement on what I've got! Thanks for the tip!

On a side note... if I bought a second pair, and cut them in half to make 2 'telescopes'... would that be any good as a viewfinder? I really need a decent viewfinder, and 10x zoom with a 60mm lens sounds pretty good.

My wife spotted the Aldi ones too after I mentioned the Lidl ones ALDI - Thursday Special Buys 17th December 2009

So.. which will be better? Anyone have a clue? I'm a bit confused by aldi's description, it sounds like they're offering 2 models (10-30 x 60 or 8-24 x 50). What do they mean by '10-30' though - are they zoom models again?

It's now thursday, and both lidl and aldi are selling the binoculars. I'm inclined to go for the lidl ones, but if anyone happens to visit both and can do a quick comparison that would be really helpful!

    In summary, both are selling for £15. Lidl's are 10-30 x 60 zoom, aldi has a choice of 8-24 x 50 or 10-30 x 60.

Do not buy them . Zooms are useless, Bak 7 glass is chronic . Seriously they sound a good buy but there not.

Wait for the Bresser 10x30's to come in , same price , £14.99 , but waaaaay better geing bak 4 glass.

Not too late for me luckily I guess the aldi ones are likely to be as bad then?

10x30 is a bit small for what I'm after (I already have a pair of 10 or 12 x 30s). I'll have to hope the 10x50s come back in - they seem to be good too.

Well, have a quick play first and let us know what you think They might have unexpectedly improved the design enough for it to be decent, and it's worth remembering that one person's awful is another's excellent
