Question Are there any good cheap [reasonably priced] binoculars?

    Hello All,
I don't have a telescope yet, although a fund has been started. My question is, Are there any binoculars available for around $30.00 that would be worth having? I'd like to acquire something to start my star gazing hobby, but I don't want to spend so much as to negatively affect my scope budget. Any particular brand or specific features to look for? This is your opportunity to stamp out ignorance and make the world a little better place Thanks to any and all who will help out.
    God Bless You All,
    Joe

I would check pawn shops, Goodwill stores and Craig's List for used binos. I don't think you'll get much value from a pair of binos that cost $30 new.

I took a chance on the Celestron Cometron 7x50's (currently $34.95 at Celestron) a couple of years ago and was pleasantly surprised. They get a LOT of use.

    Hi billp/Mike,
    billp,
Would there be any particular brands you would recommend? Any specific magnification or aperture size?
    Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion for the Celstron binoculars.
I appreciate the info both of you have provided.

Something like 8x40 or 10x50 would be a good way to start. If you have Amazon prime you may give Celestron a shot. Main problem with cheap new binos is the quality control and you may need to return a few until you get a pair that works.

Buying used you will get better quality for the same price. I picked my Orion WorldView 10x50 of eBay for $31 and they came in almost like new shape.

Hi Psalm 19. Just wondering if we are related considering your screen name. Love my Celestron 15X70 and have gotten a LOT of use out of them. They are very inexpensive but more than $30

I own and use these binoculars at least once a week. They are of good quality and I can vouch for them. Check out this link:. https://www.big5sportinggoods.com/st...xoCimEQAvD_BwE

    Greetings Bigzmey/Psalm 19:1,
    Thanks for the suggestions.
    Bigzmey,
I'll give E-bay a try. I do use E-bay but it never entered my mind to look there.
    Psalm 19:1,
We might be related. I almost tried to use Psalm 19:1 as my user name but decided to go with Psalm 19 instead. If I may ask, would you mind telling me what you paid for your binoculars.
    God Bless You both,
    Joe

The Celestron SkyMaster 15x70 are available at Amazon Warehouse for $47.39 -20%
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=all

Note that the collimation on these are a big gamble if you read the reviews. And coming from the warehouse increases there chances of being miscollimated. I think some people here have collimated these themselves, so it is possible. If you can make them work, they are quite awesome for the price.
Definitely not for handheld, but a cheap monopod works very well with these.
