Hi, I'm Celestromel, living in the North-West suburbs of Sydney. Light pollution galore! Definitely a newbie! I have some good gear (12" Meade Lightbridge dob. downwards) but real interest is astro-imaging so I have an 8" f4 astrograph on an EQ6 mount. Very steep learning curve here, so I have little to show for my efforts as yet. Latest purchase is a 40mm SolarMax - one way of enjoying astronomy in a year of cloudy nights. Attended South Pacific Star Party last weekend and had a ball!

    Default Power cuts - Yippee!

Worse still - my house backs onto a major tollway so I have a number of those rotten high pressure sodium lamps to deal with as well as the usual stuff. Frantically fertilising gum trees to block 'em out, but at the same time having to cut the tops out of 'em when they start to block the view. Can't win!
    Clear skies.

    Hi,
I have been a member of the forum for alittle while and due to having my two children in the past two years and moving from the UK back to Australia, Adelaide it has been a very busy period and my time on the telescope has been very limited!
So I am now back into the Southern hemisphere and hoping to have more viewing time.

I have started the 8 part Discovery course in Astronomy at Mawson Lakes and am loving it - enjoying my 3 hours off a week to try to pick up where I left off a couple of years ago - at the beginning!

This is a great forum btw and I have learnt so much each time I "dip" into it!

    Hello

    just registered today

I have a 127 mm apo on an Eq6; an ED80 on a CG5, a 10 inch dob with Argo Navis, a spectrum 60 solar scope, astrotrac and a borg ED45; a Modified Canon 450 D, a QHY 8 and a QHY 2 pro as imaging cameras; assorted accessories including guide scopes and guide cameras; lots of star atlases; and completely deprived of clear skies to use all this gear

Default seker372011 has spent BIG money too!

So I'm not the only one who is breaking the bank! I live in the Hills district right beside the M7 so you can imagine my light pollution from those **!!## orange sodium lights. Am trying to get Argo Navis up and going with my 12" Meade Lightbridge, and also a Skywatcher SynGuider for my 8" GSO astrograph. Always lack of time, clouds and rain seem to get in the way.
    Cheers,
    Mel
