    I grew up in Adelaide for the first 20 something years, then moved to the Barossa Valley for for work and then the last couple of years I was on a houseboat near Murray Bridge on the Murray(all in South Australia). It's a pity I did not have a telescope and my interest hadn't peaked at the time because both the Barossa and the Murray were ideal clear sky locations. Saw some good meteor showers out there though and comet McNaught was spectacular with a dark sky.
    Hopefully I will be back in a few years but we have no solid plans for now.

    Hi all, Im a newbie to this caper. I have an entry-level scope ( Celestron AstroMaster 130 eq md)...still learning how to use it !...But, from what I have observed so far...Im pleased with the scope. I intend to buy a good scope later. Im in Northern NSW (Moree). The 'seeing' here is unreal !! We are blessed with minimal light polution and generally clean, clear skies. I need a more powerfull eyepiece, probably a 5 or 6 mm to really be able to see properly. The 130 eq came with a 20 mm and a 10 mm erecting eyepiece. Can someone reccomend an eyepiece for me ?..Anyway, good to meet you all. Hope to have many good chats with you, clear skies ! Ian ( StarTrucker)

    Hi, I am also new to the forum. While I have been interested in astronomy over the years, having entry level reflectors of one sort or another (including building one myself) when I was younger, I haven't been active in recent years. However, that has now changed with the recent arrival of a Celestron Nexstar 6SE. This scope is a vast improvement on the telescopes I have previously owned but also a little more complex given its goto functionality. So it's going to take me some time to become familiar with its operation. Like StarTrucker I also would welcome advice on eyepieces. I have the 25mm that came with the scope and another Celestron branded 36mm, a relic from an earlier scope. I am more interested in DSOs than the planets but then again I am happy to look at anything until I get the hang of it again. Mike

    Default Hello fello dwellers of this great land

    Been around astronomy since 1998, on and off due to my job. Have a small set up with vixen SP mount and 72mm refractor. Trying to convince home command that I need an obs and a decent size dob. Don't mind a bit of wide-field stuff with my 1000d as well.

    Signature blocks are so overrated.

    Laptop with a couple of cords hanging out, Wo SPL 6mm, pencil, coffee cup, car keys, small 4 " spanner, oh there is my Ipod been looking for that.

    Long = 149 degrees, 5.1 minutes East

    Hi All,
    I'm Dennis from Queensland, I have been interested in astronomy for quite a while and for my last birthday, my not interested but sympathetic wife bought me the best gift ever. So now i own a Celestron C8 SCT on a CG-5 mount. And am very slowly learning to use it.
    I live 2 hrs north of Bribane in a little town called Gympie. We have fairly Dark skies in town but within half an hour there is no visible light pollution, which is pretty pleasing to say the least.
    I dont know much so far but i will ask some dumb questions.....

    Thanks
    Dennis
