    Hi everyone,

Just joined about a week ago. From the Western Suburbs. Have to admit I'm a complete newbie in this. Just came into this with a second hand setup coz my kids were interested and I just love the joy and amazement on their faces when they look at the moon or planets. Currently I'm heavily reliant on software such as StarWalk on the ipad to navigate and educate ourselves around the night sky and find stuff for the kids to see. Will most prob try a bit of basic astrophotography in the future.

Just started ... I am in Craigieburn... Bought a 8" BINTEL DOB and pretty eager to point it to clear skies asap.

    Hi Alistairsam,
Can you tell me more about the camps in March and November. I'm in Mill Park and would like to get out into darker skies.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Introduced myself in the nebies thread. Live in Ballarat and jopined the Ballarat Astronomical Society. Planning to be a more active member this time around. Last time a little daunted by those with more knowledge than myself.... nit their fault, more my shyness.

After years on Iceinspace forum, I felt that it may be a good time to widen my horizons..
I am (still) in Melbourne area, sort of almost retired, and astronomy was my first and basically only hobby since I know of myself..

Hi, I'm in Glen Iris and just got back into astronomy after a 30 year absence. I've just bought myself a Celestron CPC925, which so far I've only had a chance to use on a couple of nights when the winter clouds have cleared briefly over Melbourne. Very impressed with what the telescope shows me of the Moon and Saturn but I'm really looking forward to getting out into a dark sky site on a moonless night. I'm also really interested in getting into astrophotography. Looking forward to sharing experiences with you all.
    Scope: Celestron CPC925
    EP: X-Cel LX 25mm, standard 40mm Plossl
Accessories: NexImage 5, F6.3 Focal Reducer, X-Cel LX 3x Barlow
