    Default Port hole mirror blank

I recently bought a 10" blank from a port hole glass 'blank' that I want to refigure for a reflector.

I read somewhere that port hole glass are good to make mirrors from. Is this true and has anyone made a mirror from one?

There is a local astronomy club that offers mirror making classes. I plan on visiting this weekend to see how it's done.

    Thanks.

Thanks roverich, I am trying to get over to St. Pete science center where the St. Pete astronomy club has a mirror making class. They welcome visitors so I hope I can make it over there on Sat. It should be very interesting.

... let us know how it goes ... I have read a bunch of "old school" scope makers who have used them with success ... will be neat to find out how your works out ...

If I recall correctly, John Dobson used a port hole window for the primary of his original sidewalk telescope design. If that's the case, it should work swimmingly.
