    Default Wish me luck.

Aperture fever and the wish to turn my DIY skills at ATM have taken a hold of me.

I recently got hold of a decent 30 cm mirror + diagonal and the design for a truss tube (hey, my car is not that big) dob is in the works. Meanwhile i've found a friendly woodworking and metalworking group where i can use a lot of tools and machines.

I never started building a scope because of place restrictions in the place i live now, and also because I felt I needed some metal and wood working tools for which i didn't wish (and can) to cash out (not to mention not having the place to store or realistically use them + an enthousiastic team to guide me trough the process, although they have never built a telescope, they find the concept fascinating and are really into it)

The design is mainly based atm on the Kriege and Berry book (although that book is more meant for bigger scopes, the main design concepts scale down nicely to 12" F5 i think, which is already near the lower end of their designs)

So wish me luck, i will need it :-)

And any answers to questions i ask here will be very much appreciated !

Any warnings before the cutting is started too ofc !

Anyway, starting with a mirror dummy seems like a good way to go i guess :-)

Hi inhapi. I used to run an electronic manufacturing plant before I retired. A favorite joke among the cable assemblers was; "Sheesh, no matter how many times I cut this wire, it is still too short." Take your time inhapi, and the very best of wishes on your "home brew" Dob telescope project.
