    Default EQ6 Polar Scope dimenshions...

I am working on a mod to put a web cam on my EQ6 style polar scope. No more bending and wet knees

Anyhow I forgot to check the outside diameter of the scope but wanted to go to the hardware store at lunch time to find a plastic plumbing part to 'slip' over the end of the scope.

If someone could check theirs or already know this dimension could save me an extra trip!

    Thanks in advance!

I removed mine the other day before shipping for tuning.. I'll get the dims as soon as i get home unless someone else has one removed already..

Its SW NEQ6, but think its the same as your mount in all but name.

Yea there all made by syntax. No need to remove it actually just need the outer diameter of the 'eyepiece' end.

If they are all the same, the OD on my Celestron version is 29.95 mm.

    Tom,
Not to hijack your thread, but can you tell me how far your atlas pro will track past
the meridian before it needs a flip?
I can't seem to find that info anywhere...
The CGX is documented to go 20° past in either direction.
With built-in, internal hard stops and home position sensors...
I'm trying to get an apples to apples comparison and it ain't easy!

    Thanks in advance!
    Jim

    Jim,

It all depends on what you have mounted on it. I set the limits in EQmod 'manually' by slewing it east and west till just before something collides with the pier. Even that varys in relation to the Azmuth. I just find the 'worst case' on either side.

There are even different limits for the APO vs the Newt.

But honestly in both cases it is not much more than 5-10 degrees. Its more about avoiding collisions than anything else.

I might also add that I have the pier extension or it would be even less.
