    Default My Heavy 8inch F/6

After years of storing the mirror I have started the construction of my 8 inch heavy Dobsonian.

The pipe is a class 16 250mm Diameter PVC pipe.

    20150307_172837.jpg

The focuser is constructed out of pieces of aluminum and 4 small bearings keeping it is place.

    Some pictures of the build:

    And standing :

A lot of work still needs to be completed. Finishing and painting, I also need to place a triangular reinforcement on the sides of the rocker box. That will double as a retainer for the bearings which is currently wandering a bit. (Might not be as straight as I hoped)

I will take some closer pics of the focuser. Credit is not all mine as my skill on a steel lathe is a bit lacking. But that is why we have friends with all the correct skill and equipment.
