Seems pretty cool, I have been itching to buy some cheap scrap carbon fiber fabric off of ebay and do a small project, this might just be the task!

I would suggest that dew shields are very good and important for shielding stray light, if it is a problem.

Old but good instructions on making dew shields from craft foam. I made the version @ the bottom of the page using Velcro patches with some white glue for extra adhesion. Spent $1.49 (already had Velcro) and made in black to match my scope.

The funky foam stuff is cool, I don't think I have ever seen that before.

Great ideas! Both the pad and the foam.
Just got my 1st SCT, and found out quickly I need a dew-shield.
But, dang, 30 bucks for a piece of plastic! No way!
When your in the dark, what matters looks.

I've also got a nexstar 130slt, I was planning on buying a dew controller and shield but not anymore! I'm going to give the foam type a try!
