Default Another article of mine has been featured

I recently published another article, The Real History Of Gravity. What motivated me to do it were some articles on the same subject which I thought were very poorly written by professionals who were writing about a topic outside their field. And that ticked me off. So, I had a need to set the record straight. And, sure enough the quality of my writing and content was acknowledged. The article even got picked up by some other outside sources. Some of the stuff I had gotten from my own Web site on astronomy. But some of it is new. If I keep this up, my column could actually become nationally syndicated. I'm not sure I could handle that though.

    Eric

P.S. You want to hear the funny thing about it though? I hate to write! And everyone there knows it!

As always, I enjoy reading your work. I did read recently, I forget where, that the speed of graviety ..... what ever it is ..... was measured and equals to the speed of light.

That is a nice summary, Eric. Thanks for writing this.

This topic (and the physical origin of gravity) holds my interest often.

*Would love to see an article on Einstein's cosmological constant, his trouble with this in his equations, and the recent observations that the universe is expanding more rapidly with time.*

Very interesting stuff Eric, I can't wait til I grow up and actually understand it! Gonna keep trying. (Graduate from a small high school that prepared us to work in the steel mills)

Your quite right, Joe. That's actually a part of general relativity.

Actually, Mark I did publish such an article. It was also featured awhile back. Georges Lemaître And Albert Einstein: The Strange Tale Of The Cosmological Constant. The physicists in the group liked that one.

    Eric,

Nice job, entertaining. Surprised you didn't mention LIGO...

    Further reading for anyone interested...

    "Gravity" by George Gamow
"Quasi Stellar Sources and Gravitational collapse" by Robinson, Schild, Schucking et al
"The Riddle of Gravitation" P. G. Bergmann
"General Relativity and Gravitational Waves" J. Weber
"Space Time matter", H. Weyl (chapter 5)

Of all my topical shelvs of math and physiscs - books that are not 'pop-sci' and dedicated on the subject are rare, it is the least populated.

As Gamow states in his book (loosely paraphrased) the theory of gravitation stands in isolation - it is the Taj Mahal of science. It broke the back of both general and special relativity and continues to do the same to all other GUT's to this day.
