Question What happens in the Sun's convection zone?

When high energy gamma photons are produced in the Sun's core, they slowly make their way through the radiative zone until they reach the convective zone. Apparently here the zone is opaque to the photons and convection of energy occurs. Then at the photosphere the opacity goes away and the photon's are radiated away. So what happens in the convection zone? Why is the photon radiation process stopped?

    Thanks!

It's not true that photons are stopped in the convective zone. What happens is that the material becomes convectively unstable and convection is more efficient at transporting energy.

The Schwarzschild criterion for convective stability or instability is an application of Archimedes principle for buoyancy of parcels of gas.
