    This is really a blast from the past. The Hubble had not quite launched or even been named after Hubble. Witten looked much like he did when I met him.

    So a lot of this is out of date. One point that isn't is the suggestion of fractionally charged particles which is nowadays invoked by some to explain the redshifted 21cm hydrogen line.
