    nFA, in your opinion, what’s causing the large lobes at the ends of the jets? What’s providing the drag that takes a narrowly dispersing jet, and slowing/expanding into a bubble? The narrow “jet” is the portion that’s going through the galaxy halo, right? What’s retarding it after leaving the halo?

    Just stuff.... Tenuous gases that belong to the galaxy halo and the IGM. Also to the extent that magnetic fields aid confinement into a jet like structure, those fields will tend to spread away from the source.

    I’ll have to go do some reading on the current field estimates. When I was in gradual school, paying attention to such things, the party line was that the B fields were way too small for such confinement. Thanks nFA.

    Oh, likely so. That's why I listed 'stuff' first. Certainly the SMBHs are not charged... Yet close to the accretion disk I could see possible charge separation effects that might help near source confinement.
