Default the missing satellites problem for DM is solved

although DM does a much better job than MOND of predicting the formation of large scale structures it predicts more satellite galaxies to the MW than are observed. this work reconciles the observations and the predictions of the concordance DM cosmology.

that's one less excuse for the MONDophiles and a bit more confidence for the misoMONDs.

    Highly interesting!

I have to wonder though, how to globular clusters fit into this modeling?

I think that the globs could well be the stripped out cores of those satellites anyway! After all omega Centauri looks like a tidally stripped galaxy and there are other globs (if memory serves) for which there is some evidence of star formation being spread over time.

I think that the idea that the missing satellites contribute to the population of globs may be "too non conservative" for folks to take yet. Give 'em time... eventually they'll catch on.
