Just using these four brilliant minds as an example. One could conclude that based on a highly speculative number of lives on earth, that
'SUPERMINDS', like these genuis variety come along once in every 269,150,676,947 humans that have ever lived.
At any rate I would probably conclude that that number of superminds are actually higher in number as a result of cumulative knowledge
that cleared the path for those superminds to forward past present knowledge at those times. A pyramid of knowledge of sorts.
However, the evidence is appropriate that the cost of having a supermind is no barrier or challenge for those superior intellects to persuade
them from their inquisitive nature. The obsessive nature of their endeavour is without equal in scientific endeavours.
That biography of Galilei,Newton,Einstein, and Hawking is truly out of this world.

PS. The pyramid of genuis has topped off the last 500 years of human existance as far as understanding our universe for the better.

I think that the primary characteristic of a supermind is simply having a habit or manner or practice of thought that simply does not get in its own way. Some of the "superminds" are brilliant from the IQ PoV. Others are .... not so much.

What is important is the ability to be self critical and get out of your own way. That will trump raw intelligence every time.

Would it be appropriate to say that without the math or science inside you; you will always be tripping over yourself?

Yes, but... Even with math and science inside you, you can always find a way to trip over yourself. There are no guarantees. Very brilliant mathematicians and scientists make intellectual blunders.

I observe and witness. No one is immune.

My point is elementary. Every once in a while someone comes along with cosmological breakthroughs that shake the foundation of knowledge, and what we thought we knew. Is the next breakthrough coming? Who knows? By the
consensus of the history of these intelligent scientist who made earth shattering discoveries the mere fact that they
had failed early in life is simply amazing. Not one of the four, (Gallieo, Newton, Einstein, Hawkings), had a brilliant beginning, as far as discipline goes. The story if true is a comfimation on diligent study which they themselves could not
stop. Their desires for discovery were far more than average.
Is that a fair assessment? I am inquistive.

To give up the desires of life simply to conjure the majesty of the universe is not equaled. Einstein had an apparent
sexual appetite that had to be quelled regardless of morals at that time. It did not stop him. The religious edicts of that time for Gallieo and Newton did not stop them.(Overall)

I suppose that giving up the ship was the conquering devise which manipulated their own persona.
They had to have conflicting thoughts on what was right and what was wrong, tho they continued on a path
for universal understanding of truth as far as the facts shown.

These guys, (sorry women), have transformed the modern world as we know it. They are responsible for our present path,
tho many theories are forthcoming and transparent.

The brilliance of the mind is without regard to the moral structure or code of ones life. The structure simply is what it is
and brings forth occasionally a new understanding of the universe. Certain humans bring a new form of reality based on
theory and that is their legacy when proven.

There are no guarantees I concur. There are many humans on the path of discovery.

    best,

    billy

Hence getting out of your own way. Nature has the answers, we don't. We just get to ask questions. We trip over ourselves when we dislike the answers Nature provides.

[QUOTE=HarrySTruman;1057614953]I thought maybe it would be a good idea to have a thread where people could link the best youtube videos they have seen on these topics. I know there are some great lectures and scientist interviews on youtube, but unless I know what to search I can't find them. I'd love for anyone that watches these scientific videos on youtube to share their favorites with me, and maybe the rest of the forum would enjoy that as well.

"The Future of the Universe" - YouTube

    addition.

    thanks,
