edit: for positive curvature, use the two dimensional mental imagery to thing of a zero curvature. Think of a flat sheet of rubber that is being stretched uniformly in all directions. For zero curvature, think of a flat sheet of rubber that is being stretched uniformly in all directions.

You think considering the properties of the three dimensional (four with time) universe we can observe directly, which we still do not full understand, is tough, start thinking about multiverses, string theory with 9 dimensions, dark matter and dark energy, etc., etc.

    My brain hurts.

A great show is Through the Wormhole on Science Channel. Lots of different aspects of the universe and discussions of some really cutting edge theories. Lots of others, but this ones on now and you can usually catch marathons now and then. Really helps lay folks to understand some of the concepts, at least superficially.

Another theory is that there was no 'Big Bang', and what we have here, Is the end result of another Universe into a Black Hole. All Matter from that universe set forth into this one, thus giving us our reality. It is possible that every Black Hole is creating another universe at the other end, but possibly in a different dimension. I won't claim to have a complete understanding of this, and I have done it down so that my meager by can comprehend it. To me, matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, thus everything in the universe came from somewhere. I was raised a Catholic, and told the God always was and always will be. When I asked where he came from, I got several whacks from a Nun and chastised severely by a Priest. I believe everything that comes from somewhere, and it is impossible for something to come from nothing.
I apologize if I offend anybody, as it is not my intention to turn this into a religious debate in any way shape or form. It does for example only. I look forward to responses from many of our more learned colleagues.

you are referring to a white hole, correct? I saw an interesting article about that Is it possible we've found the first white hole?

No, I'm pretty sure it is a Black Hole, as they draw in and compress everything which in the end spews out the other end creating another Universe. Not enough data on the White Hole for me to make an opinion on it. Things change on a daily basis.
