    I am shore I can get a quick response to this question

    Is the cosmological void between galaxies the same thing as Dark energy?

    nope the definition of void is empty (like my head) (see post to Colin) Astronomy the final lobotomy...
    Dark energy comes from dark matter - which according to string theory must exist to balance the equation. Sadly no one knows how to measure it - we don't have a negative energy meter.

    I think dark energy term was introduced in work were people tried to explain observation data using scalar fields. One of the points of this work was that cosmological constant not able to explain observation data.

    But now most of astronomers use "standard model" with cosmological constant and believe that this model describe latest observation data. As for as scalar fields theory - it is still under construction.
