    Default Inside Pixinsight book coming

Just received word from Amazon my preorder of 'Inside PixInsight' will be delivered about Oct. 13. I thought I should learn all I can before I spend the 'big bucks' on the software package!

Sounds great Micki! And smart thinking on your part.

I have yet to pull the trigger on PI. It might be a while. If it was a simple as PHD, which I truly believe was named for me, I would have purchased it by now.

Full disclosure, I was one of the editors on the Inside Pixinsight book, although I get no money out of it except a free book and my name in the acknowledgements.
That out of the way, it's a really good book and Warren put a lot of time and effort into it. It's not a be-all-and-end-all of manuals as for a program like Pixisinsight, kind of like Photoshop, there is no way to put all the nuances in one book, but it's the best book resource out there at this point.

I look forward to that book coming out as I use PI as my main image processing program.
At the moment I am learning all I can from videos on utube. Some of which are excellent I might say

    Dave,

I would be careful with Youtube videos of Pixinsight. I've seen some really horrible ones out there. If you want free video, I recommend Harry's Astro Shed.

To be honest Stuart, I really only watch Richard Bloch's as I find I like his voice, he doesn't put me to sleep I have tried others, some are OK but some not so.
Thanks for the info though. I will try Harry's Astro Shed and see how i get on.

Gerald is fantastic. He is a frikking genius.

I took a look at Bloch's introduction to pixinsight processing video. It's okay, I've seen worse. but I do have issues with his technique.
In any case, check out Harry. He's tried and true and won't steer you wrong.
