Default M031: I'm Having Issues With Color and Detail... Wanna Try?

Here are the Lights, Darks, Bias, and Flats from Saturday morning 08/06/2016. I'd love to see what others can pull from it; I use PI, but any processing would be awesome to see. There is a lot of LP because of where I have to shoot this in the sky...

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to look

It looks like you have some good detail hiding in there amidst the light pollution, and that nasty gradient in the lower left. ATM I'm fighting with my own M31 data (which is NOT as nicely framed as yours). Maybe after I get done there (and if the download doesn't kill me) I can take a crack at this.

For me that is a few days out, I'm sure others will come along and show you what a great capture you've got.

That's awesome Bob! If you are able to play around with it, take your time I tried following the Light Vortex M31 tutorial and I get confused sometimes...

I will take a pass at it this evening though I doubt I will get any more out of it than the others have. Looks like it is 'washed out' in the light pollution.

Thanks UM! I was really hoping with the new Hutech LPS Filter and actually taking Flats that I could do 300 seconds at ISO800, but maybe I have to do 300 seconds at ISO400 ...

Okay I spent a little bit of time on it and here is what I noticed when processing.

First, you don't need 100 flats I culled down the flats, darks, and bias to 20 each.

Second, the image is very noisy but not surprising seeing as your light frames were in the neighborhood of 32C. Maybe put some pause between frames, I know it adds time to the run but gives the chip a few moments to cool down. I did not look at the trend of the tempratures but thought I would mention that if you do use live view for focusing or whatever wait a good long time before starting a run. Live view can really warm up the chip

There was a good deal of LP background in the image and a lot of detail is lost in trying to minimize it.

Lastly about the color. The color is there but the red channel is choked way down and the green channel is dominant. I am supposing that is because of the filters used. Also this is not a particulary colorfull object to begin with.

This may sound crazy but maybe try a little shorter durations without the filter

Here is what I was able to get out of it

Oh used DSS and Star Tools...

    Oh and just for fun

I took another run at it this time not being aggressive with the noise. Knocking down the noise level really bites into the detail!
