Hi you may get mileage in looking at alternative firmware if you have Canon

Thanks, I didn't know that there was third party firmware for cameras... Guess I just never really thought about it because it makes perfect sense! Not sure that the wife would approve, even though I'm 99.9999999999% sure she'd never know the difference

Hmmmm, the Magic Latern says it doesnt touch the internal firmware which is good like all these things there is always a risk check the support matrix for your camera. I am currently looking for a very cheap 450 or 550 D and will probably put one of these on it if its supported as it wont matter to me as I plan not to pay more about £40 as it will only be used for AP work.

My understanding is Magic Lantern will add features to your camera. I installed onto my 50D and it gave it the ability to shoot HD VIDEO. And very clear it is too....but no sound as the camera has no mic
