    I processed this image in PixInsight. Here is my workflow.

    <Original Image>
    •Dynamic crop to get rid of the funky boarder.
    •Resampled to add more pixels to help make the square stars round.
    •SCNR on green with default setting except I unchecked Preserve Lightness
    •TGVD modestly applied without any masks to "melt" nebulosity to fill in black rings around stars that were introduced when I upsampled. I used strong Edge Protection to prevent smoothing out any detail.
    •Masked Stretch with the Target Background set to .100 and 1000 iterations.
    •MultiscaleMedianTransform resampling smoothed out all the edges on structures so I used MMT to sharpen up everything again.
    •Morphological Transformation used with a star mask to shrink the stars a little.

    Next I made a clone of the image and did the following to it.
    •ATrousWaveletTransform I set to 8 layers and turned off the Residual Layer, then I applied that to the clone. Now I have an image of just the smaller structures.
    •Pixel Math was used to subtract the image of small structures from the Original Image. In PM I unchecked Rescale Result and checked Create New Image. Subtracting small structure from the Original left me with an image of all the large structures which consist of all nebulosity that doesn't have any detail. Now I have an image for small structures that has all the stars and nebulosity containing detail, and I also have an image with the large structures which contain only the largest of detail. The point of separating the small from the large is so they can be enhanced independently to help make the small detail pop.

    <Small Structures>
    •Curve Transformation was used aggressively to boost Saturation to help the smaller details stand out more. A star mask was used.
    •HistogramTransformation to boost the midtones some.

    <Large Structures>
    •ACDNR was used to smooth out background noise on the open sky. I used a Range Mask to protect all the large structures in the nebulae and hit the background hard to get rid of noise.
    •Curves Transformation to slightly boost the saturation.

    Next I went back to Pixel Math to combine the Small and Large Structure images to make a new image which I've named WaveletMarrage.

    <WaveletMarrage>
    •Histogram Transformation used to clip the empty section of the histogram between shadows and the edge.
    •SCNR again on the green with Preserve Lightness unchecked.
    •ACDNR modest strength used with mask protecting nebula and stars.
    •Histogram Transformation to clip shadows to darken the background
    •LocalHistogramEqualization used lightly since adjusting the different wavelet layers separately did most of the work to bring out detail. I used these setting with LHE - Kernel Radius 46, Contrast Limit 1.5, Amount .300
    •DarkStructureEnhance (script) used with default settings.
    •Curves Transformation for one last little tweak.

    Saved as JPG and used 80% quality.
