I spend countless hours processing not only for myself but for the entire community and I really want them to see the image as I see it. My only option is to calibrate my screen so I see what I believe they see.
What I truly like about this hobby is the satisfaction I get from others enjoying my images. It almost makes it pointless if I process great images and everyone else only sees them as crappy.

A better thread title for me would be "Proper Monitor Calibration for Forum Viewing/Posting".
Getting them to show the show up awsome for everyone will be a chalenge,as some people will have beter/worse settings.
One thing you can do is to procces it on an old CRT screen,if it looks great on there it should look amazing on any screen.

Thanks Zombie, that gave me an idea.

I checked my factory pre-set settings for my display to look for CRT and there was one in there called "sRGB". I can't remember who said it but it was suggested that sRGB is what I want to process my images as in photoshop. I have now set my monitor for sRGB and it appears to look very close to all my older monitors I have here at home.

Maybe this is the setting I need for my images to appear better for everyone here on the forum?

    Lonnie,
It certainly is a challenge to make them look great for "everybody" given the variety of intermingled issues:

    1) The calibration of your video card/monitor combo will affect the RGB colour balance and brightness/contrast/gamma
    2) If you post jpegs, the software they use to view the jpeg will render the image differently

Given that you are now using the correct colourspace (sRGB) and have calibrated your display environment, I would advise posting 16-bit TIF files instead of JPEGs - yes they are bigger, but the results are more predictable IME.

Can you try that? Do you have/can you make Tifs of the two versions of the image?

    regards
    Phil

I just converted the challenge_4.jpg to a tiff from jpg. The challenge_4_image_ is the original tiff I was working with.
