Well I hope at least some of the members here get to see my image the way I see it.
On both computers here at work, it looks like a couple of kids have gone crazy with crayola's!

lately i have been looking at most photographs using my ipad because my 5 year old laptop looks like an old episode of star trek compared to the flaming HD of the ipad

    - also been messing around with the photo, i basically was able to match the other beginners picture, gradient still present of course. having access to raw (not .raw) images is really helping my understanding of processing

Below is my attempt for this challenge. I had tried using Paint.net for the other challenges, but this time I was unable to get a decent image using that app. So this was my first try at using Gimp.

    Adjusted Levels
    Adjusted curves
    Adjusted Levels
    Adjusted Levels
    Adjusted saturation
    Duplicate Layer
Copy and paste background over object
    Adjusted brightness
    Used Filters, Noise, Spread, 150 x 150
    User Filters, gaussian blur
    Layer mode to difference
    Reduce opacity to 70%
    Flatten image
    Adjusted curves
Adjusted levels to reduce green tint

I'm going to take a chance and hope my monitor screen has been calibrated close enough for everyone to see how the first image should look, fairly close anyway. Fingers crossed!!!

Pretty much exactly the same processing as my first image posted above.

Great pic Lonnie. By far one of my favorite night time objects and your processing attempt makes it look incredible. Well done.
