Here is what I came up with after a few minutes in photoshop, I'll have to try some more tonight when I have more free time.

these threads are great and are a good way to learn for those of us, like myself that have never done any AP work. That being said my guide scope is on the way!

    Great attempt!

Can you post some details on the methods you used to get your results?

    Hi all,

Thought I'd have a play as well. I'm the sponsor, so my entry is naturally disqualified... :P
There is a lot of ways you can spin this one, but the main features I used in StarTools are the Wipe module to get rid of the gradients, Denoise for noise reduction, Repair for some (subtle) star rounding and the Life module to subtly isolate/'float' the nebula. Also used were the Develop, Contrast, Wavelet, Boost and Color modules.

    Cheers,

    Ivo

A lot of great images in here!,

hope to get PI installed again but definitely will try to post a comparison of the best i can do with nebulosity, gimp, paint, PS, and PI but would love to see a comparison if others have a bit of time to try more than one method.

Will be interesting but I am very impressed what everyone can do, but I won't be able to come even close with what people have been doing with GIMP and Paint (due to my lack of experience with the programs), and it seems there is a very wide variety of processing methods, software and plugins everyone uses. Great stuff

Very interesting discussions and results, and it seems they are some of the most popular threads (by days old) on the community.

    Thanks for posting Ivo!

I purchased StarTools about a month ago and have been 'playing'. I'm really impressed with the quality of the images I'm getting and the ease of use. I wish there were a few more tutorials out there but with a bit of work I've figured most of them out. I really like the simple masking method and as you mention the 'wipe' tool works great to remove gradients!
