Default M42 - First successful astrophotograph

Well, after a lot of fiddling around with my mount, I finally managed to set it up more or less properly and capture some pictures.

    10 x 15sec, processed using Nebulosity.

Open to any critiques or suggestion.

Though I do have a question. Why when stacked and processed is the red colouration so much less apparent than in the unstacked, unprocessed images?

I love this image! Congrats! I'm dreaming of getting something like this soon!
Now if I can only get my mount to align properly (and consistently) so I can even find objects like this one!

Lovely - though I think your processing hand a little harsh with the black clipping is - not an uncommon problem - moderation you will learn. Hmm yes.

Yeah, I had to same issues for the longest time. I finally managed to figure it out by taking a 30 second exposure of what my tracking looked like and posting it on these forums. The people here were able to tell me what I was doing wrong immediately.

Lol. Thank you Master Yoda. Erred I have. Better I must do.

I deliberately did that because I thought the picture was looking a little messy. I shall take your advice to heart though. I tend to go overboard with stuff like that some of the time.
