Smile Venus & Crescent Moon from 15th May 2010

Just back from a great holiday in Nairn (near Inverness), watched the sunset most nights and I've got to say it was truly beautiful! Photographs don't do it justice. This shot of the Crescent Moon and Venus taken about 1 hour after sunset, from Nairn beach looking over the Moray Firth to the Black Isle.

Cheers Carol. Going wild camping Sat' - Tues' in Glen Orchy and Glen Etive. Hoping to get some nice images of Loch Awe, Loch Etive and the surrounding areas, Rannoch Moor ,Glencoe and such . All depends on the weather. Its a full Moon that weekend but I have a cunning ( hopefully) plan for some images I wanna try.

You planning on using the Bank Holiday weekend for any photography ?

Yeah Pete it always depends on the weather! lol Really hope it's good for your trip and your cunning plan works out! That's a really lovely part of the world and you should be able to get some fantastic WF scenery shots. Wouldn't it be great if you got some noctilucient cloud? That's my photography challenge for the summer, I've been keeping my eyes open for them but not seen any yet!

I've no specific photography plans for the bank holiday but I'm always out with my camera these days! I've been trying lots of different things. Did alot of sunset shots and silhouette shots on holiday. Also been up Calton Hill trying some b&w panarama shots of the Edinburgh skyline! I'd like to get some WF full moon shots over the weekend, especially when it's low on the horizion.

Anyway Pete, look forward to seeing lots of photos from you after your trip.

Those are some great photo Carol!

I'm just getting into astrophotography and took a couple of shots the night after you. Mine aren't anywhere near as picturesque, and I've not worked out optimal settings for my SLR yet either!

    I've attached them below anyway:
