Yeah, I hear ya. Lots of glitches were inherited from the previous owner. For instance, you don't get a horizontal scroll bar using Firefox, so we Firefox users only get to see the left side of big photos, unless we open the forum up in IE.

    Thanks guys,
all my shots are always prime focus, but are missing color data (I remove it in Photoshop) as there is little contrast and a lot of light pollution here (makes the background red in long exposures).

Luckily I had improved my balance/leveling and so I think I can easily get 30 minute+ shots if I get better aligned (align with PEMPro as I can't see the celestial pole here, get rid of the PE error in PEMPro, and my autoguiding was as good as it has gotten last night). Guiding was done with PHD (point here dummy) on old drivers for QHY5 (wasted 1 hour trying to fix new drivers which didn't work with PHD!) on my Shorty Tube 80mm. My better alignment (by fluke really) and better leveling allowed PHD to guide basically indefinitely (I tried 3 30 minute shots and they were quite good the stars).

My issue is with the city lights which is always there and worse on weekends like yesterday, and the smog which for some reason is somewhat gone for now. So, anything above ISO 800 in the city and guiding for more than 2 minutes yields a white screen basically. So guiding doesn't help me. I will need to get some narrowband filters or pollution filters and get very long exposures (30 minutes plus - which is another issue with my mount that I have to tease out). I try to stick to ISO 400, and sometimes ISO 800 for shorter shots but then I have to deal with the background in processing.

I process basically in any program that can work with the files, but since these ones were RAW (.CR2 from Canon) - Registax and DSS had issues stacking them. I found Nebulosity had no issues and was able to quickly stack my photos. Nebulosity however is not as good at Photoshop for final editing and cropping so I use Photoshop to edit the final image. In all photos, I adjust the levels and brightness/contrast, and remove all color from my city photos by changing to grayscale.
