Default Seeking a technical astrophotography book

I’m looking for a good technical reference book on the subject of astrophotography and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. At present, I have two books: “Digital SLR Astrophotography” by Michael Covington and Robert Little’s “Astrophotography, A step by Step Approach.”

While Convington’s book does an excellent job explaining the basics of photography with a DSLR as well as how a DSLR works, it only scratches the surface of the techniques and equipment used for imaging deep space objects. Little’s book, published in 1986, reflects the technology and equipment existing at that time and is seriously dated. It also did not dive too deep into technical aspects.

    Any recommendations are appreciated.

    Consider Jerry Lodriguss' CD-ROM book:

A Guide to Astrophotography with Digital SLR Cameras

and for processing aspects, the companion:

    Photoshop for Astrophotographers

I use all three of his CD-ROM references continually. They are contemporary, and work in companion with his web-based free material and updates.

If you want a more technical, but non-DSLR based reference, consider:

The Handbook of Astronomical Image Processing with AIP4Win Software by Richard Berry and James Burnell

There are others in the Willman-Bell series on imaging, but AIP is the "definitive" work.
