    Hi All
This is my second image for the May competition which I just managed to get on the 30th May, it is the same subject as my other entry, ie NGC 5907, except that I used the Starlight Xpress H9 camera and used an LVI smartguider
    Thanks for looking

I haven't used it since getting th Takahashi BRC-250 purely because it means disconnecting the image train (focuser, filter wheel, camera etc) from the Tak and changing over to the TMB, that is not to say that I won't be using it again as it is more suited to certain subjects epecially the bigger ones

With voting now open, it appears I need to make a choice between these incredible images. You ALL deserve to win, damnit, but I guess that's not to be..so...

James: that's a cool pic of Saturn, but unfortunately us Afocal guys will always have a tough time competing with the Prime Focus photographers.

I do think we need to add a Afocal category. What do you all think?

On with the voting! (this means all of you checking out this thread...!)

    Mike

The difficulty is running any comp is how do you set the parameters

do we have a comp based on

    a) equipment -
eg: Value of Gear $1000-5000, 5000-10000, 10000 or over
often it has been proven that equipment does not always produce the results

    b) experience
eg: Imaging for 1-5 years, 5-10 yrs etc again not necessarily a good formula for success as often dedication and other talents come into play

    c) method used to capture
eg: video, webcam, CCD, DSLR or Digital camera Afocal, EP projection

If anything I suggest maybe we split the comp into two categories

ie: planetary (including the moon) and DSO as this would separate out Afocal which is a technique not really suited for DSO objects

By the way voting for the May comp closes the 15th JUNE
