That's a very nicely matched AP system. Did it "evolve" to be that or did you aim for an AP system from the get-go ? If it evolved, I'd be interested in the steps you went through and the lessons learned along the way.

    Steve.
Actually it evolved started with a Skywatcher 120 f/5 on Eq5 mount which was abount my 4th scope then progressed by buying the Stellarvue equipment and an EQ6 pro mount then the guide camera made the side by side saddle myself all in the last 8 months. Found setting up the s by s tedious so since converted the 10x60 SV finder to my guidescope piggy backed on the SV80ED. Started with a Pentax camera which I still have and have since purchased a Canon 350d body which I will have modded. Next acquistions when dollar improves will be either a Vixen 200 VMCL or a GSO 200 RC and a dedicated cooled camera. $$$. Lotto win 12.5 RC on Paramount ME mount dedicated observatory, gotta dream

    Hey Trev

Just an aside. If you want to run up to the Vixen Visac series and imaging is your priority go with the VC200L. At f/9 its a bit faster than the VMC at f/9.75 but also produces a flatter field.

The VMC is a little more visual oriented, the VC a bit more AP oriented.

Nice astrophotography setup, Trevor. It sure does not take much to run up the dollar amount of essential equipment.

    trevorw,
Thanks for sharing your story of progress. Watching this forum allows me to learn what mistakes not to make.
In your signature line you say the Canon 350d is not modified but you mention in the text that it is. What, if any mods did you make?
    Thanks for any info.

Actually mitch the text states I will have it modded. Modifiying a 350d requires removing the IR filter to allow different light wavelengths to be captured.

    Cheers

Very nice scope/camera package . How do you like the stellarview stuff ? I have a stellarview 2in dielectric diagnol on my meade SC and love it .One more question , do you download straight to a computer with your camera and what do you use for a power supply ? Thanks in advance .
