Default M49 -- trying to upload with IMGUR

I did a quick take on M49 a few weeks back and decided to try Jeff's advice about using IMGUR to store the image and upload it.

    35 x 60s C8 on EQ-G with X-A1 (iso6400)

Let's see if this works !!!

    Joe

PS I'm not sure how to go about this. It seems you have to click on the icon to get to the picture.

Joe, what you posted is not a link to a picture, but a link to a page containing a picture. The link you used can be posted as a normal page link:
    https://imgur.com/ePiqqxH

To post it as a picture, you would need to find Imgur's BBCode sharing link for the image. I don't know how Imgur does this. In Flickr, I click on a Share button and select BBCode, then I cut & paste the code into py post.

Yeah, I know how to do this in for FLICKR. But FLICKR has gone bananas and keeps asking me to login over and over again today.

Let me try what you said about the BBCode for IMGUR. Thanks.

I will give a run down here since there are several people on the thread.

    www.imgur.com
create an account (I have jeffpadell)
once account is created youi get an imgur home page with a bunch of gifs and pictures on it.
Top right corner is your username with a round circle icon next to it
If you click the circle you get "your" homepage but that is not where you want to be, however even if you do,
click on your name and a box should open with Posts, Favorites, Comments, About, Images
click on Images that opens your images and albums.
You can then drag and drop a picture to that page and it will show as a thumbnail
once you have an image there you can create an album for it or just leave it as it (albums are created by clicking on the left hand box that says All Images

Click on the image you want to put on Astro Forum (or any forum) and a box appears with the picture and 6 options Image link direct link etc

    you want to use "BBcode"
at the bottom of the window are "Sizes", there are 8 choices, I usually use either Large Thumbnail or Huge Thumbnail, click on the one you want and it turns green
then simply click on the "Copy" on the BBcode line

and then simply paste the code into your post

    easy peasy

I did not quite manage with the IMGUR account. Too many steps to register. Maybe it's because I'm in Africa...

Anyway, Jeff, thanks for the info. I'll try again later.

In the meantime, Flickr is back. So I'll download from there.

Not my best AP image ever ... but my best for this object so far. Didn't get much time on it.

That is very nice, M49 is a tough object for imaging.

Here is why I get discouraged with imaging or even looking, this is the coming week. also I only have an opening from SE to S about 60-70 degrees up to 60 degrees off the horizon and then 20 degrees at the zenith, NW to N I see a bit more and with slightly darker skies (bortle 7 -7.5)
The bortle for county is 5 BUT that is away from us, we are 300 feet from Rt 1 with 15 car dealerships, RT 1 runs NE to SW and 300 feet from a major mall from N to SE and 500 feet from a large 5 story factory from SE to S and 1/4 mile from a 24 hour Walmart SW.
My skies are 7.5-8 and visual magnitude on a dark night of mag 2.1
